The Supreme Court of India (SCI) has released notification for direct recruitment of Junior Court Assistants (JCA) in various departments of the Supreme Court. Here in this blog, I have explained all the details related to this recruitment notification.

A total of 241 posts have been notified, which will be distributed as per the latest reservation criteria:
(i) Unreserved (UR): 40.5%
(ii) EWS: 10%
(iii) OBC: 27%
(iv) SC: 15%
(v) ST: 7.5%
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 08/03/2025):
(i) Bachelor’s degree of a UGC/AICTE recognized University.
(ii) Minimum speed of 35 wpm in English Typing on Computer.
(iii) Knowledge of Computer operation.
AGE LIMIT (as on 08/03/2025):
• Minimum: 18 years
• Maximum: 30 years
• Relaxation in the upper age limit:
(i) OBC-NCL: 03 years
(ii) SC/ST: 5 years
(iii) Physically Handicapped: 10 years
(iv) Departmental candidates of Registry of Supreme Court: No Upper Age Limit
(v) Ex-servicemen/DESM/Victim of Riots: As per Govt of India rules.
JOB PROFILE OF JUNIOR COURT ASSISTANT (JCA):
1. Preparing case files.
2. Keeping court records.
3. Managing the schedule for hearings.
4. Help in writing and filing legal documents.
5. Support judges and senior staff with research, preparing summaries, and drafting judgments.
6. Answering and addressing questions about court proceedings.
7. Managing the judge's office.
8. Heeding to the judge's and other superiors' orders.
SALARY:
• Pay Level: level-6
• Pay Band: 9300-34800
• Grade Pay: 4200
• Basic Pay: ₹35,400
• Dearness Allowance: 53%
• House Rent Allowance: 30% (for X-city)
• Travelling Allowance: ₹3600 + DA (53%)
• Deductions: NPS, Professional Tax, etc.
• Gross Salary: ₹72,040 approx.
• NET (In-hand) Salary: ₹65,800 approx.
SELECTION PROCESS:
• Selection to the service will be done in three stages:
A. Objective Test (Computer Based Test).
B. Typing Test & Descriptive Test (both on the same day).
C. Interview.
OBJECTIVE TEST (COMPUTER BASED TEST):
• It will have questions from the following subjects:
(i) General English (incl. Comprehension): 50 questions
(ii) General Aptitude (Maths & Reasoning): 25 questions
(iii) General Knowledge: 25 questions
(iv) Computer Knowledge Test: 25 questions
• TOTAL: 125 questions
• Each question is of+1 marks
• TOTAL: 125 marks
• Negative Marking: One-fourth (-1/4th)
• Time: 02 hours (120 minutes)
• Qualifying Marks: 50%
TYPING TEST:
(i) 350 words (English) to be typed on the computer in 10 minutes.
(ii) Each word will be of minimum 5 characters/letters.
(iii) Maximum Mistakes Allowed: 3%
(vi) This typing test will be of 50 marks.
DESCRIPTIVE TEST:
• It will be conducted just after the typing test (on the same day).
• In this stage, the following tasks will be given:
(i) Comprehension passage: 30 marks
(ii) Precis Writing: 30 marks
(iii) Essay Writing: 40 marks
• TOTAL: 100 marks
• TOTAL TIME: 02 hours (120 minutes).
• Qualifying Marks: 50%
INTERVIEW:
• Candidates who qualified the Typing & Descriptive Test, will be called in the ratio of 1:3 (3 times the vacancy).
• Total Marks of Interview: 25 marks.
• Qualifying Marks: 50%
FINAL SELECTION:
• Candidates who qualified all stages, will be included in the qualified candidates list.
• Now the merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in all the stages.
• Total Merit: 125 + 50 + 100 + 25 = 300 marks
• Candidates higher in merit, will be selected for the service.

what will be the basis of the marks you score in typing? what will deduct the marks? more errors than 3% or less speed than 35wpm? if you type at 36wpm with 1.5% errors, will you score 50 marks? on the contrary, will that only get you bare minimum marks and if you type at 60wpm with 0.5% error, that will get you 50 marks? kindly help me, very confused and there's too much misguiding info out there.
