EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 17.01.2025):
BE/BTech Degree in relevant discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognized university/institute.
• Relevant Discipline for:
(i) Assistant Engineer (Civil): Civil Engineering
(ii) Assistant Engineer (Mechanical): Mechanical Engineering
(iii) Assistant Engineer (Electrical): Electrical Engineering
(iv) Assistant Director (Energy Departt): Electrical Engineering
(v) Assistant Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical): Either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
(vi) UP Agriculture Service Grade-2: Agricultural Engineering.
AGE LIMIT (as on 01.07.2024):
• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years
• The upper age limit will be relaxed as under:
(i) SC/ST/OBC-NCL: 5 years
(ii) Physically Handicapped: 15 years
(iii) Skilled Players of UP: 05 years
(iv) State Government Employees of UP: 05 years
(v) Ex-Serviceman/ECOs/SSCOs: Three (3) years + Period of service rendered in the Army.
SALARY of an Assistant Engineer:
• Pay level: level-10
• Grade Pay: 5400
• Pay Scale: ₹56,100 - 1,77,500
• Basic Pay: ₹56,100
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 50%
• Other Allowances: TA, HRA, Medical, etc
• Deduction: NPS, Income Tax, State Insurance, etc
• Gross Salary: ₹92,000 approx.
• NET (In-hand) salary: ₹77,500 approx.
PROBATION PERIOD:
The probation period of an Assistant Engineer is of 2 years, and after its completion, they are confirmed in the service.
Are Other State Candidates Eligible?
Yes other state candidates are also eligible. But, they will be considered as a General/Unreserved Candidate, and will not get the benefits of reservation & age relaxation.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection to the services takes place in three stages:
A. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination
B. Stage-II: Main Examination
C. Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview
A. STAGE-I: PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
• In this exam, there will be one paper, in which the following topics will be asked:
(i) General Knowledge: 25 questions
(ii) General Hindi: 25 questions
(iii) Engineering Aptitude: 100 questions
• Total: 150 questions
• Each correct answer: +2 marks
• Total Marks: 300 marks
• Total Time: 2 hours (120 minutes)
• Negative Marking: One-Third (-1/3rd)
• No Sectional Cut-off
• Ratio for shortlisting for the Main Exam: 1:15 (15 times the vacancy)
B. STAGE-II: MAIN EXAMINATION
In this exam, there will be two papers:
(i) FIRST PAPER:
It will have questions from the following sections:
1. General Hindi: 25 questions
2. Engineering Paper-I (Civil/Mech/Electrical/Agri): 100 questions
• Total: 125 questions
• Each correct answer: +3 marks
• Total Marks: 375 marks
• Total Time: 2.5 hours (150 minutes)
• Negative Marking: One-Third (-1 marks)
(ii) SECOND PAPER:
It will have questions from the following sections:
1. General Awareness: 25 questions
2. Engineering Paper-II (Civil/Mech/Electrical/Agri): 100 questions
• Total: 125 questions
• Each correct answer: +3 marks
• Total Marks: 375 marks
• Total Time: 2.5 hours (150 minutes)
• Negative Marking: One-Third (-1 marks)
• GRAND TOTAL = First Paper + Second Paper = 375 + 375 = 750 marks
• Ratio for shortlisting for the Interview: 1:3 (3 times the vacancy)
C. STAGE-III: PERSONALITY TEST/INTERVIEW
• In this stage, your personality and knowledge will be tested, to see whether you're fit for the service or not.
• It will be of 100 marks.
FINAL SELECTION:
Final Selection will be done from the merit list prepared on the basis of marks scored in Mains Exam and the Interview. The candidates higher in merit will be selected for the service.
For preparing the final merit list, 750 marks of Mains Exam and 100 marks of the Interview will be added.
So, Total Marks in the Final Merit = 750 + 100 = 850 marks.
