The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released notification of Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2025 for recruitment of General Duty Medical Officers (GDMO) in Central Health Service, Railways (ADMO), NDMC, and various Delhi Municipal Council. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
For admission to the examination a candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS Examination.
NOTE: Final year/appearing students are also eligible to apply, but they will have to provide the details of passing the Final MBBS examination (both written and practical) in Detailed Application Form (DAF) before the Interview Stage.
AGE LIMIT (as on 01/08/2025):
• Maximum (for Central Health Service): 35 years
• Maximum (for other services): 32 years
• Age relaxation in the Upper Age Limit will be provided to:
(i) OBC-NCL: 03 years
(ii) SC/ST: 05 years
(iii) Physically Handicapped: 10 years
(iv) Defence Services Personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities: 03 years
(v) Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs)/Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who have rendered at least five years Military Service: 05 years
SALARY:
• Pay Level: level-10
• Pay Band: 15600-39100
• Grade Pay: 5400
• Basic Pay: ₹56,100
• Dearness Allowance: 53%
• House Rent Allowance: 30% (for X-city)
• Travelling Allowance: ₹7200 + DA (53%)
• Deductions: NPS, Income Tax, Professional Tax, etc.
• Gross Salary: ₹1,15,000 approx.
• NET (In-hand) Salary: ₹98,250 approx.
SELECTION PROCESS:
• Selection to the service will be done in two stages:
1. Written Examination.
2. Viva-Voce/Interview.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION:
The Written Examination will be of Objective Type (MCQ), and the question papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.
There will be two papers:
1. Paper-I: General Medicine and Paediatrics.
2. Paper-II: Surgery, PSM, Gynaecology & Obstetrics.
1. Paper-I: General Medicine and Paediatrics:
In this paper, questions will be asked from:
(i) General Medicine: 96 questions
(ii) Paediatrics: 24 questions
• TOTAL: 120 questions
• TOTAL MARKS: 250 marks
• TOTAL TIME: 2 hours
• Negative Marking: One-third
2. Paper-II: Surgery, PSM, Gynaecology & Obstetrics:
(i) Surgery: 40 questions
(ii) Preventive & Social Medicine: 40 questions
(iii) Gynaecology & Obstetrics: 40 questions
• TOTAL: 120 questions
• TOTAL MARKS: 250 marks
• TOTAL TIME: 2 hours
• Negative Marking: One-third
• Here, Surgery includes General Surgery, Urological Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Thoracic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Traumatology and Orthopaedics.
TOTAL MARKS (Written Exam) = Paper-I + Paper-II = 500 marks
VIVA-VOCE/INTERVIEW:
• Candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in Written Examination (as decided by UPSC), will be called for the Interview.
• In this stage, your personality is tested, whether you are fit for the service or not.
• It is also intended to supplement the written examination for testing the general and specialised knowledge and abilities of the candidate.
• TOTAL Marks of Interview: 100 marks.
FINAL SELECTION:
• Candidates who qualified both stages, will be included in the qualified candidates list.
• Now merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in both stages.
• Total Merit: 500 + 100 = 600 marks
• Candidates higher in merit, will be selected for the service (according to the preference order).
