ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
1. Navik - General Duty (GD):
• Education: Class 12th passed with Maths and Physics from a recognised board.
• Age Limit: born between 01 Sep 2003 to 31 Aug 2007 (18 to 22 years, as on 01/09/2025).
2. Navik - Domestic Branch:
• Education: Class 10th passed from a recognised board.
• Age Limit: born between 01 Sep 2003 to 31 Aug 2007 (18 to 22 years, as on 01/09/2025).
AGE RELAXATION:
Relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to:
(i) OBC: 03 years
(ii) SC/ST: 05 years
(iii) Personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army/Navy/Air Force: 05 years
HEIGHT, CHEST & EYE SIGHT:
1. Height: 157 cm
2. Chest:
(i) Unexpanded: minimum 80 cm
(ii) Minimum Expansion: 05 cm
3. Eye Sight: 6/6, 6/6 (no spectacles)
4. Hearing: Normal
5. Weight: between 18.5 to 22 BMI
TRAINING:
The basic training for Navik (General Duty) and Navik (Domestic Branch) will commence tentatively in early/mid September 2025 at INS Chilka followed by sea training and professional training in allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per requirement of service and performance during basic training.
SALARY:
• Rank: Navik
• Pay level: level-3 (₹21,700 - 69,100)
• Grade Pay: 2000
• Basic Pay: ₹21,700
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 53%
• Travelling Allowance: ₹3600 + DA (53%)
• Gross Salary (excluding HRA): ₹40,000 approx.
• Net in-hand salary (excluding HRA): ₹35,500 approx.
(HRA of 30% will be given only in case quarters are not available)
PROMOTION:
A Navik in the Indian Coast Guard gets promotion in the following order:
1. Navik (pay level-3)
2. Uttam Navik (apay level-4)
3. Pradhan Navik (pay level-5)
4. Adhikari (pay level-6)
5. Uttam Adhikari (pay level-7)
6. Pradhan Adhikari (pay level-8)
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection to the service will take place in three stages of Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT):
A. Stage-I: Computer Based Online Exam.
B. Stage-II: Physical and Medical Examination.
C. Stage-III: Identity Verification and Joining.
A. Stage-I: Computer Based Online Exam:
In this stage there will be two sections:
1. Section-I: This stage contains questions from:
(i) Maths: 20 questions - 20 marks
(ii) Science: 10 questions - 10 marks
(iii) English: 15 questions - 15 marks
(iv) Reasoning: 10 questions - 10 marks
(v) GK: 05 questions - 05 marks
TOTAL: 60 questions - 60 marks
TIME: 45 minutes
Qualifying Marks: 30 marks (27 for SC/ST)
2. Section-II: This stage contains questions from:
(i) Maths: 25 questions - 25 marks
(ii) Physics: 25 questions - 25 marks
TOTAL: 50 questions - 50 marks
TIME: 30 minutes
Qualifying Marks: 20 marks (17 for SC/ST)
• Navik (Domestic Branch) gives only the Section-I exam.
• Navik (GD) gives both Section-I & Section-II exams.
B. Stage-II: Physical and Medical Examination:
This stage will have four sub-stages:
1. Assessment Test: OMR-Based exam, which is only qualifying in nature.
2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): It consists of:
(i) 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes
(ii) 20 Squat ups (Uthak Baithak)
(iii) 10 Push-up
3. Document Verification: All documents uploaded in the application will be verified.
4. Recruitment Medical Examination: In this stage, your medical fitness will be checked. Candidates who are found medically unfit in Recruitment Medical Examination and who wish to appeal will be immediately referred to any designated military hospital (allocated by ICG). Such candidates are to report to the designated Military Hospitals (allocated by ICG) within a maximum period of 21 days from the date of completion of recruitment medical examination which has declared them unfit. The appeal medical examination will be considered as final.
C. Stage-III: Identity Verification and Joining:
This stage will also have four sub-stages:
1. Basic Identity Checks.
2. Document Verification (Provisionally ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’).
3. Pre-Enrolment Medicals at INS Chilka.
4. Submission of Original Documents, Police Verification and Other Associated Form.
