EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 30.04.2025):
Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognized university.
AGE LIMIT (as on 01.04.2024):
• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years
• The upper age limit will be relaxed as under:
1. SC/ST: 5 years
2. OBC-NCL: 3 years
3. PwBD (UR/EWS): 10 years
4. PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 years
5. PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
6. Ex-Serviceman/ECOs/SSCOs: 5 years
SALARY of a SBI PO:
• Scale of Pay: ₹48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920
• Basic Pay: ₹48,480 (plus 4 advance increments)
• Allowances: DA, LCA, HRA, Grade Allowance, etc
• Perquisites: Medical Reimbursement, Interest free Festival Advance, Leave Travel Concession, Loans and Advances at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Vehicle, Education, Consumer Articles, Personal Computer, etc.
• Gross Annual CTC: ₹18,67,000 (18.67 Lakhs)
JOB PROFILE of SBI PO:
1. A SBI PO has to work as a Public Relations Officer, handle customer complaints and address various customer related issues.
2. It also includes managerial work such as supervising the employees under the Clerical cadre.
3. Managing cash flow, loans, mortgages and finances.
4. Take care of loan-related documents as and when required.
5. Issuing Chequebooks, ATM cards, and Demand Drafts, checking for discrepancies in the accounts, etc.
6. Ensuring completion of his branch's weekly targets (like adding new customers, selling policies, mutual funds, credit cards, insurance, etc)
PROBATION PERIOD:
The probation period of a SBI PO is of 2 years, and after its completion, they are confirmed in the service.
After confirmation, they are posted as "Assistant Branch Manager".
Is there any bond in SBI PO?
You will have to serve the bank for a minimum period of three (03) years (including probation), otherwise you'll have to pay a bond amount of ₹2,00,000.

CAREER PROGRESSION/PROMOTION of a SBI PO:
In the SBI Bank, there are different levels of management:
1. Junior Management
2. Middle Management
3. Senior Management
4. Top Management
A SBI Bank PO is in the Junior Management Scale. After working for a minimum of 2 years at a particular level, you're eligible for departmental tests and interview for promotion to the senior level.
After 2 years of joining the bank, PO gets confirmed as "Assistant Branch Manager", and now his promotion takes place in the following order:
1. Assistant Branch Manager.
2. Branch Manager.
3. Senior Branch Manager.
4. Chief Manager.
5. Assistant General Manager.
6. Deputy General Manager.
7. General Manager.
8. Chief General Manager.
9. Deputy Managing Director.
10. Managing Director.
11. Chairman.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection to the services takes place in three stages:
A. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination
B. Stage-II: Main Examination
C. Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview
A. STAGE-I: PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
In this exam, there will be three sections:
1. English Language: 40 questions - 40 marks - 20 minutes
2. Quantitative Aptitude: 30 questions - 30 marks - 20 minutes
3. Reasoning Ability: 30 questions - 30 marks - 20 minutes
• Total: 100 questions - 100 marks
• Total Time: 1 hour (60 minutes)
• Negative Marking: One-fourth (-0.25 marks)
• No Sectional Cut-off
• Ratio for shortlisting for Main Exam: 1:10 (10 times the vacancy)
B. STAGE-II: MAIN EXAMINATION
In this exam, there will be two types of papers:
(i) Objective Type:
It will have questions from the following sections:
1. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 40 questions - 60 marks - 50 minutes
2. Data Analysis & Interpretation: 30 questions - 60 marks - 45 minutes
3. General Awareness: 60 questions - 60 marks - 45 minutes
4. English Language: 40 questions - 20 marks - 40 minutes
• Total: 170 questions - 200 marks
• Total Time: 3 hours (180 minutes)
• There will be sectional cutoffs in Mains, which will be decided after the exam.
• Negative Marking: One-fourth (-0.25 marks)
(ii) Descriptive Paper:
• Communication Skills: Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis & Precis Writing)
• It will start just after the conclusion of the Objective Test.
• Total Marks: 50 marks
• Total Time: 30 minutes
• Candidates will have to type the answers on the keyboard.
• GRAND TOTAL: Objective + Descriptive = 200 + 50 = 250 marks
• Ratio for shortlisting for the Interview: 1:3 (3 times the vacancy)
C. STAGE-III: PERSONALITY TEST/INTERVIEW
This stage comprises of three parts:
(i) Psychometric Test:
• It will be done for personality profiling, and it's result will be placed before the panelists during the interview.
• It will have no marks. But it is mandatory.
(ii) Group Discussion:
• In this stage, candidates will be given a topic to discuss in groups. This will be done to test your teamwork skills and communication skills.
• It will be of 20 marks.
(iii) Personal Interview:
• In this stage, your personality and knowledge will be tested, to see whether you're fit for the service or not.
• It will be of 30 marks.
• GRAND TOTAL: Group Discussion + Personal Interview = 20 + 30 = 50 marks
FINAL SELECTION:
Final Selection will be done from the merit list prepared on the basis of marks scored in Mains Exam and the Personality Test.
The candidates higher in merit will be selected for the service.
For preparing the final merit list, 250 marks of Mains Exam will be normalised to 75 marks and 50 marks of the Personality Test will be normalised to 25 marks.
So, Total Marks in the Final Merit = 75 + 25 = 100 marks.
