Indian Army has released notification for recruitment of Short Service Commission (SSC) Officers in Technical Entry for 65th Batch (Men)/36th Batch (Women) starting from October 2025 at Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA). Here in this blog, I have explained all the details related to this recruitment notification.

A total of 379 vacancies have been announced, which is distributed as follows:
A. SSC Short Service Commission 65 Men:
(i) Civil Engineering: 75 vacancies
(ii) Computer Science Engineering: 60 vacancies
(iii) Electrical Engineering: 33 vacancies
(iv) Electronics Engineering: 64 vacancies
(v) Mechanical Engineering: 101 vacancies
(vi) Miscellaneous Engineering: 17 vacancies
• TOTAL: 350 vacancies

B. SSC Short Service Commission 36 Women:
(i) Civil Engineering: 07 vacancies
(ii) Computer Science Engineering: 04 vacancies
(iii) Electrical Engineering: 03 vacancies
(iv) Electronics Engineering: 06 vacancies
(v) Mechanical Engineering: 09 vacancies

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering (BE/BTech) in Related Trade/Discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognised university.

NOTE: Appearing/Final Year Candidates are also eligible to apply. But they should be able to submit proof of passing Engineering Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 October 2025 and produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training.

AGE LIMIT (as on 01/10/2025):
• Minimum: 20 years
• Maximum: 27 years

MARITAL STATUS:
Candidates must be unmarried at the time of joining. And marriage during the training is also prohibited.

PHYSICAL STANDARD:
(i) Height: 157 (Male) & 152 (Female)
(ii) Body Mass Index should be below 25.
(iii) Waist Circumference should be less than 90 cm for males and 80 cm for females.

SALARY:
• Pay level: level-10 (₹56,100 - 1,77,500)
• Grade Pay: 5400
• Basic Pay: ₹56,100
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 53%
• Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 + DA (53%)
• Travelling Allowance: ₹7200 + DA (53%)
• Technical Allowance: ₹3000 + DA (53%)
• Gross Salary (excluding HRA): ₹1,22,800 approx.
• Net in-hand salary (excluding HRA): ₹1,02,000 approx.
(HRA of 30% will be given only in case quarters are not available)

TRAINING:
(i) Training will take place at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA).
(ii) Duration of Training: 49 weeks
(iii) Stipend during training: ₹56,100/month (fixed)
(iv) On successful completion of Pre-Commission training at PCTA, Officer will be confirmed in Short Service Commission (Technical) in the rank of Lieutenant.
(v) After completion of training, candidates will be awarded "Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies".
(vi) If any candidate leaves during the training, he/she will have to pay the training costs at the rate of ₹16,260 per week of training.

TENURE OF ENGAGEMENT:
(i) Candidates will have to serve after commissioning in the Indian Army for at least 10 years.
(ii) This tenure may be further extended by four (04) years subject to their opting for the same and found eligible and suitable for extension of service.
(iii) If a candidate wants to leave, he can leave under special provisions only after 5 years of service, for which, he/she has to apply in headquarters in the 5th year of their service.

PROMOTION:
Promotion of SSC Officer in Indian Navy takes place in following order:
1. Lieutenant: pay level 10 (5400 GP) (initial joining)
2. In 2 years, Captain: pay level 10B (6100 GP)
3. In 6 years, Major: pay level 11 (6600 GP)
4. In 13 years, Lieutenant Colonel: pay level-12A (8000 GP)
(till completion of 14 years SSC service).

SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection to this service will be done in two stages:
A. Shortlisting Based on BE/BTech Marks (post eligibility wise).
For appearing candidates, shortlisting will be done on the basis of pre-final marks.

B. Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview.
The Final Merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in the SSB Interview.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
Candidates before induction, have to undergo a medical examination. In this stage, your overall medical fitness will be checked.
To qualify this stage, you should have:
1. Height: 157 cm (Male) & 152 cm (Female)
2. Weight: 18 to 22 BMI
3. Chest (for male): 80-85 cms, with 5 cm expansion
4. You should have all organs in a good state.
5. Be free of any chronic disease
6. Have sound Ears and Eyes.
7. Vision (with/without correction) should be 6/6. But the power of lenses must not be more than -3.5 D.
8. Good dental condition
9. Normal Blood Pressure
10. Normal Glucose levels (not diabetic)
11. Normal Heart Rate
12. And there should be no any type of physical deformity like knock knees, flat foot, etc.
