Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released notification for recruitment of Junior Assistants in its Administrative Cadre. Here in this blog, I have explained all the details related to this recruitment notification.

A total of 70 posts have been notified, which is distributed as follows:
(i) UR/General: 05 vacancies
(ii) EWS: 13 vacancies
(iii) OBC: 34 vacancies
(iv) SC: 09 vacancies
(v) ST: 09 vacancies
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 31/01/2025):
(i) 12th Class or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board; AND,
(ii) Typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi on Computer.
AGE LIMIT (as on 31/01/2025):
• Minimum: 18 years
• Maximum: 27 years
• Relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to:
(i) OBC-NCL (Central List): 03 years
(ii) SC/ST: 05 years
(iii) Physically Handicapped (UR/EWS): 10 years
(iv) Physically Handicapped (OBC-NCL): 13 years
(v) Physically Handicapped (SC/ST): 15 years
(vi) Women: 10 years
(vii) Ex-servicemen: 03 years after deduction of military service
(viii) Regular Employees of CBSE: No age limit
SALARY of CBSE Junior Assistant:
• Pay level: level-2
• Pay Scale: ₹19,900-63,200
• Basic Pay: ₹19,900
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 53%
• Travelling Allowance (Y-city): ₹900 + DA (53%)
• House Rent Allowance (Y-city): 20%
• Gross Salary: ₹36,000 approx.
• Deductions: NPS, Income Tax, Professional Tax, etc
• Net in-hand salary: ₹31,500 approx.
JOB PROFILE of CBSE Junior Assistant:
1. Secretarial practices with computer applications.
2. Diary & dispatch work of incoming and outgoing mail.
3. To handle the estate management/purchase & import/accounts & audit/hospitality/academic/recruitment/legal, R&D and establishment matters etc.
4. Typing, recording, and Indexing, to prepare files and statements.
5. Calibration and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
6. Registering files in the office.
7. Other tasks, as assigned by the higher authorities.
PROMOTION of CBSE Junior Assistant:
A Junior Assistant gets its first promotion after a minimum of 4 years of service. His promotion takes place in the following order:
1. Senior Assistant (level-4): After a minimum of 4 years of continuous service as a Junior Assistant.
2. Superintendent (level-6): After a minimum of 4 years continuous service as a Senior Assistant.
3. Section Officer (level-7): After a minimum of 4 years of continuous service as a Superintendent.
• Promotions can take even more time than the minimum criteria. So, generally a Junior Assistant retires as a Section Officer.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection Process takes place in two stages:
A. Tier-1: Objective (MCQ) type (OMR Based) Examination
B. Tier-2: Skill/Trade Test
A. Tier-1: Objective (MCQ) type (OMR Based) Examination:
(i) Part-I: GK, Current Affairs & Environment: 30 questions - 90 marks
(ii) Part-II: Reasoning & Mathematical Ability: 25 questions - 75 marks
(iii) Part-III: General Hindi & English: 25 questions - 75 marks
(iv) Part-IV: Basic Computer Knowledge: 10 questions - 30 marks
(v) Part-V: Awareness about School Education, Examination Board and its Administration: 10 questions - 30 marks
• TOTAL: 100 questions - 300 marks
• Total Time: 2 hours
• Negative Marking: One-third (-1 marks)
• Ratio for shortlisting for the Skill Test: 1:5 (5 times the vacancy).
B. Tier-2: Skill/Trade Test:
(i) In this stage, your typing skills will be tested.
(ii) Typing Test: 350 words (English) or 300 words (Hindi) to be typed on computer in 10 minutes.
(iii) Candidates can give this test in either English or Hindi (as opted by the candidate in Application).
(iv) Maximum Mistakes Allowed: 7% (10% for reserved categories).
(v) This typing test will be only qualifying in nature.
FINAL SELECTION:
The final selection of candidates for Junior Assistant post, will be done on the basis of marks scored in the Tier-1 Objective Test. Candidates higher in merit will be selected for this post.
