VACANCY:
A total of 305 posts have been notified, which is distributed as follows:
(i) UR/General: 121 vacancies (42 reserved for females)
(ii) EWS: 31 vacancies (42 reserved for females)
(iii) EBC: 59 vacancies (21 reserved for females)
(iv) BC: 37 vacancies (13 reserved for females)
(v) BC Female: 14 vacancies
(vi) SC: 37 vacancies (13 reserved for females)
(vii) ST: 06 vacancies (02 reserved for females)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 01/08/2024):
(i) 10+2 Inter Exam Passed from Any Recognized Board in India; AND,
(ii) Minimum 1 year Diploma in Computer Applications
SKILLS REQUIRED:
(i) Hindi Stenography Speed: 80 WPM
(ii) Hindi & English Typing Speed: 30 WPM
NOTE: No certificate is required for stenography and typing. You just need to have the skill.
AGE LIMIT (as on 01/08/2024):
• Minimum: 18 years
• Maximum: 25 years
• Relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to:
(i) Male of BC/EBC: 02 years
(ii) Female of BC/EBC: 03 years
(iii) Both Male & Female of SC/ST: 05 years
(iv) Employees of Bihar Govt (with 3 years service): 05 years
(v) Ex-servicemen: 03 years after deduction of military service (not to exceed 57 years)
(vi) Physically Handicapped: 10 years (category wise)
SALARY:
• Pay level: level-5
• Grade Pay: ₹2800
• Pay Scale: ₹29,200-92,300
• Basic Pay: ₹29,200
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 50%
• Gross Salary: ₹48,000 approx.
• Deductions: NPS, Income Tax, etc
• Net in-hand salary: ₹42,000 approx.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection of Bihar Police Stenographers will be done in two stages:
A. Written Test (Objective)
B. Skill Test (Steno + Typing)
A. WRITTEN TEST:
The written test will have two papers:
1. General Hindi:
(i) This paper will have 100 questions, each of 1 marks, means a total of 100 marks.
(ii) Total time will be 90 minutes (1.5 hours).
(iii) No Negative Marking in this paper.
(iv) Only Qualifying in Nature.
(v) Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30%
2. General Knowledge:
(i) This paper will have 100 questions, each of 2 marks, means a total of 200 marks.
(ii) Total time will be 120 minutes (2 hours).
(iii) Negative Marking: -0.2 marks
(iv) Marks will be counted for shortlisting.
(v) Based on the performance in this GK paper, candidates equal to SIX (06) times the vacancy (category wise) will be shortlisted for the Skill Test.
B. SKILL TEST:
1. Shorthand Test:
(i) In this stage your hindi shorthand speed will be tested.
(ii) Dictation: 5 minutes (at 80 WPM)
(iii) For Typing the Dictation: 20 minutes
(iv) Before typing, an extra time of 2 minutes will be given for correction of the error.
(v) Maximum Mistakes allowed: 10%
2. Typing Test:
(i) In this stage, your English & Hindi Typing Speed will be tested.
(ii) Hindi Typing: 300 words to be typed in 10 minutes
(iii) English Typing: 300 words to be typed in 10 minutes
(iv) Maximum Mistakes allowed (Hindi Typing): 5%
(v) Maximum Mistakes allowed (English Typing): 10%
3. Test of Computer Knowledge:
(i) In this stage, knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Internet will be tested.
(ii) This will be qualifying in nature.
FINAL SELECTION:
Final Selection will be done on the basis of marks scored in Paper-2 (General Knowledge) of the Written Exam.
